Slewdrum and Blackhall Forests with K9 Steve McQueen
I first ran this circuit around a month ago in the aftermath of the London Marathon when I felt that I struggled a little with the ascent a little. The weather was calm and still this morning, so I set off with Steve McQueen for a wee run. Although the pace was slower today, as it generally is when I run with Steve, my legs felt as loose as they have done all week, the time includes a warm up, and the hills felt much more comfortable. All in all this was probably a better run than my first attempt, save for the rather obvious navigational error that can be seen on the map below.
All being well this should serve as a good warm up for a big circuit on Lochnagar tomorrow, and my first 4 new Munros in several years…
Steve McQueen for his part is absolutely knackered:
| Z1 Recovery | 0–2 m/s | 18:53 | 26% |
| Z2 Endurance | 2–2 m/s | 17:25 | 24% |
| Z3 Tempo | 2–3 m/s | 20:27 | 29% |
| Z4 Threshold | 3–3 m/s | 8:53 | 12% |
| Z5 VO2max | 3+ m/s | 5:47 | 8% |
