Getting back on the horse

There is an old saying that when you fall off a horse, the first thing that you should do is jump back on, and that’s what I wanted to do today after spending much of yesterday afternoon in a dark place.

A respectable 7 miles in just over an hour or so was a fairly good response to yesterday, and more than I was capable of after London just 4 weeks ago, in itself a far easier course than what we ran on yesterday.

I’m still kicking myself over race hydration, and thats something I need to spend some time working on, as yesterday was not the first time that I have screwed it up, but it does have to be the last.

I’m feeling brighter today than I was yesterday, although there was a wee gulp earlier when Natalie Imruglia came on the radio on the way to collect my k9 children:

Illusion never changed Into something real I’m wide awake and I can see The perfect sky is torn You’re a little late, I’m already torn

But i’ll get over it.  I have spent the last couple of hours trying to find another race to slot into this year, ideally one carrying a couple of UTMB points, and apart from the Wye Valley race in October I’m not sure that there is one.  I think that the focus has to be on making the Ring ’o Fire stick, and pretty key to that is going to be a solid Clyde Stride as part of a back to back weekend.

Anyway, enough doom and gloom, heres this morning stats, and I will in a few moments be uploading a few photos into my Cateran 55 post from yesterday.
